Standing Committees

Committee membership is open to all members of the 44th on a voluntary basis.

Affirmative Action Committee

The Affirmative Action Committee, chaired by the Affirmative Action Committee Chair, encourages participation in the Democratic Party by people of diverse cultural heritage.

Bylaws and Standing Rules Committee

The Bylaws and Standing Rules Committee, chaired by the Parliamentarian, proposes revisions to these Bylaws and to the Standing Rules as necessary.

Communications Committee

The Communications Committee, chaired by the Newsletter Editor, publicizes all activities of the 44th. The Website Editor (Webmaster) is a member of the Communications Committee.

Credentials Committee

The Credentials Committee, chaired by the Sergeant-at-Arms, verifies the eligibility of any contested seat or the eligibility of any member to vote at any meeting or caucus of the 44th. The committee shall verify registration of delegates at the caucus of the 44th that is held for the purpose of the election of delegates to congressional district caucuses and/or conventions, and to the Snohomish County Democratic Convention.

Community Outreach Committee

The Community Outreach Committee, chaired by the Community Outreach Coordinator, plans programs and materials designed to help educate the public about the Democratic Party. Provides speakers to the community and helps recruits speakers for 44th Legislative District events. The committee shall have the following subcommittees: Education, Environment, Health, Transportation, and Youth.

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee, chaired by the Treasurer, has responsibility for all financial concerns of the 44th, particularly in the areas of planning the annual budget, and in the regulatory function of meeting all of the requirements of the Washington State Public Disclosure Commission. The Finance Committee and its chair work closely with the Fundraising Committee and its chair to co-ordinate fundraising activities and the legal and proper handling of all funds generated by such activities.

Fundraising Committee

The Fundraising Committee, chaired by the Fundraising Coordinator, has responsibility for planning and presenting special fundraising programs and activities for the 44th. The Fundraising Committee and its chair work closely with the Finance Committee and its chair to coordinate fundraising activities and the legal and proper handling of all funds generated by such activities.

Membership and Hositality Committee

The Membership Committee, chaired by the Membership Coordinator is responsible to maintain current membership registration lists; to provide staffing and sign-in sheets for registration of members and guests at all general meetings; to provide refreshments at general meetings; to work with PCO’s to recruit new members.

Special Committees

Special committees may be created by the Chair, when deemed necessary, and with the approval of a majority of the Executive Board. Each special committee shall have a clearly defined charter and budget.

Endorsement Committee

The Endorsement Committee is a special committee that considers endorsement requests by candidates and initiatives. This committee screens them for basic qualifications and makes a recommendation to the membership. Zero budget.
